A review of The Alchemist

12 Dec

It’s not often that a book comes along and fundamentally changes the lives of it’s audience. The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo is a beautiful story that captures what the human existance is all about. A young boy from Andalusia named Santiago, who finds courage as an adventurer to listen and follow his dreams. Santiago leaves his flock and as travels the world, he discovers that by following his dreams and listening to omens along the way, finds his purpose and fulfills his destiny because, “…when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”

We all wander this life, trying to find our purpose, to figure out the meaning of it all. No matter where you live, or what you do for a living, we are all connected in our search. This connection is what makes this story’s message extraordinarily powerful. The boy from Andalusia shows us that taking the risk of following your dreams and listening to your inner voice will yeild the answers we seek.
